Kitesurfing Lessons
Kitesurfing is the fastest growing watersport in the world, it combines surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and sailing. The progression is much quicker than most watersports and the possibilities are endless, its great fitness, very accessable and very addictive!
We teach all ages and abilities (over 16) and cater for groups, families and corporate bookings.
Whether your serious about getting into kitesurfing, just want to have some fun and learn about an exciting new sport, or progress your kitesurfing to the next level, were here to help.
At Hydr8 Boardsports kitesurfing is our passion, we are a professional, enthusiastic team with years of kitesurfing knowledge and experience in the uk and overseas.
We aim to deliver top quality tuition to our customers in a relaxed, safe and understanding environment, we are a BKSA approved school which means we are recognised and supported by the British Kitesurfing Association, all our instructors are BKSA qualified with years of experience so you know your in safe hands.
We run our lessons with two students to one instructor, we never teach in large groups as we believe the lesson quality suffers, we want our customers to experience the best lesson possible with our full attention and guidance.
Hydr8 Boardsports is an official Wainman Hawaii Kitesurfing school and test centre, we have the very latest equipment and support from what we believe is the greatest kitesurfing company in the world.
How it works
location Where we teach (poole harbour)
Our shop has a great location close to poole harbour and sandbanks beach in poole, dorset.
Poole harbour is the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world and is one of the few places in the uk that benefits from flat shallow water.
The area we run our lessons in is protected from the sea by sandbanks peninsular, it is waist deep for hundreds of meters out even at high tide making it an easy, safe environment to learn kitesurfing.

Baiter park is a large harbour side park in poole, it has a large grass area next to the harbour which works great for the land based part of our lessons.
The prefered direction for teaching in poole is west-south/west however we can teach in other various locations depending on conditions.

Justin Bufton
Owner of Hydr8 Boardsports and our head BKSA instructor, Justin has been Kitesurfing since it began! He is qualified to teach kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and stand-up-paddleboarding. Justin has taught in some of the greatest locations in the world including Australia, South Africa, Europe and the carabian, he spent several years working with proffessional riders and can offer advanced and waveriding tuition. When hes not kitesurfing you'll find him paddle-boarding, in the gym or eating dairy milk.
Simon brasier Aka - Wee Man
Senior BKSA instructor, he has been kitesurfing for 6 years and has dedicated most of his time to teaching in the uk and Europe, he has spent many years surfing, skateboarding, windsurfing and snowboarding, when hes not kitesurfing you'll find him tearing it up on a skateboard!
Adam bascombe Aka - Damski
BKSA Instructor, he has been Kitesurfing for 4 years and has taught in the UK, Europe and South America. Kitesurfing is his weapon of choice but when its not windy you will find him at the gym, paddle-boarding or planning his next snowboarding trip!
Day 1 - £99
An introduction to kitesurfing the equipment involved, understanding the enviroment around you and an introduction to essential kite flying skills and techniques.
site assessments and understanding of wind and weather
basic kite flying skills on 2 line trainer kites
introduction and set up of inflatable kites and safety systems
launching and landing
water based inflatable kite flying skills and relaunching
introduction to body dragging techniques
self rescue and deep water pack-down
safety at sea, tides and wind directions.
Day 2 - £189 includes free trainer kite worth £69.99
Building on what we learnt on day 1 and developing our water based kiteflying skills and techniques.

1-2-1 lessons - £35 ph
When you have completed your 2 day course if you need some extra tuition we run 1-2-1 lessons by the hour, If your a beginner learning to ride upwind or an intermediate trying your first jumps we offer tailor made coaching sessions to suit your needs.
Equipment and safety gear is provided by us, all you need to bring is a towell, sturdy footwear (trainers) suitable clothing depending on the weather, suncream, sunglasses.
All lessons must be paid for when booking, if the wind forecast is poor for your chosen days we will re-book at a time to suit you.
